taking part

I just voted. Waited about a half hour, but as I left, the lines were even longer, snaking in rounds inside the building and outside around the block.

But to show just how important this election is, as I made my way out, I saw my 84- and 80-year-old neighbors. She had a heart attack a few months ago, colon surgery last month, and just yesterday was diagnosed with deep-vein thrombosis. She showed me her swollen ankles, and when I told them they had a least a half-hour standing wait, they shrugged and said they would be OK.

Today, I am proud to participate.
